Imo Police Deploy Adequate Security for 2026 UTME Across Examination Centres

The Imo State Police Command has assured candidates, examination officials, and residents of comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scheduled to hold from April 16 to 25, 2026 across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, PSC(+), MNIPS, gave the assurance during a strategic security meeting held at the Command Headquarters, where he ordered heightened security deployment to all accredited examination centres and JAMB offices within the state.

CP Bosso directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to immediately identify examination centres within their jurisdictions and ensure adequate deployment of personnel and operational assets before, during, and after the examination period.

He further ordered intensified visibility policing, sustained patrols, and surveillance around examination venues to deter criminal activities and ensure a hitch-free examination exercise. He warned that any officer found negligent in the discharge of duties would face disciplinary action.

According to him, personnel of the State Intelligence Department (SID) have also been strategically deployed to provide intelligence support and enhance operational readiness across all examination locations.

The Police Commissioner cautioned candidates against examination malpractice or any form of disorderly conduct, stressing that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Imo State and urged members of the public to cooperate fully with security agencies throughout the examination period.
