POCACOV Intensifies Campaign Against Cultism, Drug Abuse in Lagos Schools ....... sensitises students on dangers of social vices, urges youths to choose positive paths

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has stepped up its advocacy drive in schools across Lagos with a fresh sensitisation programme aimed at discouraging cultism, drug abuse and other harmful behaviours among students.

The awareness event, organised by the Nigeria Police Force through its Lagos State POCACOV unit, marked the launch of the command’s 2026 campaign themed “Say No to Cultism and Drug Abuse.”

The programme took place at Sanngo Senior Secondary School, where students from different schools, including learners with special needs, gathered to receive guidance on the consequences of engaging in criminal and anti-social activities.

Speaking during the event, the Lagos State POCACOV Coordinator, Olivia A. Ugochukwu, stressed that the campaign is designed to guide young people away from negative influences and help them focus on building productive futures.

She encouraged the students to avoid cult groups, drugs and other vices that could derail their ambitions, reminding them that the choices they make today will determine their future.

Also addressing the participants, Olabode Oguntoye from the Directorate of Gender and Vulnerable Groups emphasised the importance of discipline, self-confidence and positive peer relationships among students.

The programme drew participation from officials of Educational District I, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and other stakeholders collaborating with POCACOV to promote safety and responsible conduct among youths.

Organisers noted that the sensitisation initiative will be extended to more schools across the state as part of POCACOV’s broader effort to prevent crime by engaging young people through education, awareness and community partnersh
