Former CNN Star Isha Sesay Returns to Network as Guest on Glo-Sponsored African Voices

Former Cable News Network (CNN) International anchor and award-winning journalist, Isha Sesay, is set to make a special return to the network this week as the featured guest on African Voices, the flagship magazine programme sponsored by telecommunications giant Globacom.

The 30-minute programme will spotlight Sesay's remarkable journey from one of the world's most respected television journalists to a leading advocate for girls' education across Africa.

Born on January 6, 1976, the British-Sierra Leonean broadcaster built an impressive media career before joining CNN in 2005, having previously distinguished herself at the BBC and Sky News.

During her time at CNN, Sesay became one of the network's most recognisable faces. She anchored several flagship news programmes, including International Desk, where she interviewed influential world leaders such as former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. She also served on Anderson Cooper 360° as presenter of the 360 Bulletin before later anchoring CNN NewsCenter.

Away from television, Sesay has dedicated much of her time to promoting education and leadership opportunities for young African girls. In 2014, she established Women Everywhere Can Lead, a nonprofit organisation focused on expanding educational access and empowering girls to become future leaders.

In the interview, Sesay also opens up about a deeply personal chapter of her life, her journey to motherhood through In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) as a single mother. She shares the challenges, resilience and joy that shaped the experience, alongside reflections on her distinguished journalism career and humanitarian work.

The special edition of African Voices will premiere on Saturday at 7:30 a.m., with a repeat broadcast at 11:00 a.m. Additional airings are scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday at 3:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., and Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. The programme will continue on the same schedule the following week, with the final broadcast slated for Monday at 3:00 a.m.
