NASENI to Showcase Nigeria's Best Homegrown Innovations at Final Pitching Exercise

Nigeria The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) will, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, host the Final Pitching Exercise of the NASENI Innovation Assessment and Awards Programme (NIAAP), bringing together some of Nigeria's most promising innovators to compete for top honours in the Agency's Intra-Agency and Inter-Agency (MDAs) Innovation Competitions.

The event marks the climax of NASENI's most ambitious innovation competition to date. A total of 180 entries were received from NASENI Development Institutes, while 81 submissions came from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) across the country. Following a rigorous evaluation process, the top 10 finalists in each category have emerged and will present their innovations before an independent panel of distinguished experts.

The Final Pitching Exercise is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Technology Orientation Centre (TOC), NASENI Headquarters, Idu Industrial Layout, Abuja. It represents the concluding stage of the assessment process, where finalists will showcase and defend their innovative solutions.

The expert panel will evaluate the entries based on originality, technical merit, practical application, scalability, and their potential socio-economic impact. At the end of the exercise, three winners will emerge from each category and will be officially honoured during NASENI FEST, the Agency's flagship innovation celebration.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, will declare the competition open, underscoring the Agency's unwavering commitment to promoting indigenous technology, supporting research excellence, and accelerating Nigeria's industrial transformation through innovation.

Held under the theme, "Driving Innovation. Accelerating Industrialization. Transforming Nigeria," the programme aligns with NASENI's strategic mandate of leveraging science, technology, and engineering to develop homegrown solutions to national challenges while strengthening Nigeria's industrial competitiveness.

Beyond rewarding outstanding innovations, the competition is designed to identify transformative ideas, foster collaboration among NASENI institutes, government agencies, researchers, and innovators, and inspire a new generation of Nigerian inventors whose solutions can contribute meaningfully to sustainable industrial growth and national development.

NASENI has invited policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, innovators, development partners, members of the diplomatic community, the media, and the general public to witness what promises to be a landmark celebration of Nigerian ingenuity, technological excellence, and homegrown innovation.
