Disu Charge Women To Embrace AI, Vocational Skills For Economic Empowerment ….Pledges Upgrade of POWA Skill Acquisition Centre, Improved Staff Welfare
The National President of the Police Officers' Wives Association (POWA), Chief (Mrs.) Olufunmilola Disu, has called on Nigerian women to embrace vocational training and emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), as essential tools for economic empowerment, self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Mrs. Disu made the call during a working visit to the POWA Skill Acquisition Centre at Dei-Dei Barracks, Abuja, where she inspected training facilities and interacted with trainees, instructors and management staff.
During the inspection, the POWA President toured various departments of the centre, including Adult Education, Baking and Confectionery, Tailoring, Hairdressing and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), applauding participants for their dedication to acquiring practical skills capable of transforming their economic fortunes.
She stressed that in today's rapidly evolving global economy, vocational education and digital literacy have become indispensable for financial independence, urging women to continuously upgrade their knowledge to remain relevant and competitive.
Mrs. Disu particularly encouraged trainees to take advantage of the vast opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence and other digital innovations, noting that AI is reshaping businesses, entrepreneurship and professional careers worldwide.
According to her, mastering emerging technologies alongside traditional vocational skills would enable women to improve productivity, expand their businesses and create new streams of income.
The POWA President also met with the management and staff of the Skill Acquisition Centre to assess operational challenges and identify priority areas requiring intervention.
She reaffirmed her administration's commitment to improving staff welfare while pledging support for the maintenance, renovation and upgrading of the centre's facilities to provide a more conducive environment for learning and innovation.
Mrs. Disu emphasized that empowering women through practical skills, education and access to modern technology remains a key pillar of POWA's mission to strengthen families and promote economic resilience within the police community.
Her visit, she noted, underscores the association's sustained commitment to expanding educational opportunities, promoting innovation and equipping members of the police family with skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
