Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Notorious Cultist in Ebute Metta, Recover Firearm
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber and notorious cultist, identified as Odeshola Afeez, 22, during a swift operation in the Ebute Metta area of the state.
The arrest followed a distress call from concerned residents who reported that the suspect was allegedly harassing passers-by and causing panic within the community.
According to the Police, officers immediately responded to the report and apprehended the suspect at the scene. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge, and charms allegedly concealed in his possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be a notorious cultist who had allegedly been terrorising residents and engaging in activities capable of disrupting public peace. Police further disclosed that he had reportedly evaded arrest on several occasions before his eventual capture.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism, noting that the arrest underscores the Command's commitment to tackling cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance public safety.
The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue. Police authorities assured that he would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
