The Ondo State Police Command has successfully arrested a suspected inter-state vehicle thief and recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla, following the operational alertness of its operatives in Akure area of the state

The suspect, identified as Olagunju Gbenga Moruff of Owena, Osun State, was apprehended on October 28, 2025, after officers observed him attempting to replace a fake registration number plate on the vehicle, a move that immediately aroused suspicion.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that the Toyota Corolla was stolen from Osun State and belongs to one Mr. Okoye Paul. This admission confirmed the involvement of a broader criminal network specializing in stealing and trafficking vehicles across state borders.

CP Adebowale Lawal, the Commissioner of Police, commended the operatives for their professional conduct and swift response, stating that the success reflects the Command’s drive to make Ondo State unsafe for criminals.

The Command has since launched a comprehensive investigation to trace and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate believed to be operating in neighboring states, underscoring its proactive stance against organized crime.

The Commissioner also extended appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his strategic direction and continuous investment in intelligence-led policing, which has enhanced the Command's operational capacity.

The Ondo State Police Command assures the public of its dedication to protecting lives and property and urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
