Nigerian Army Commissions State-of-the-Art Wargaming Centre to Sharpen Commanders' Decision-Making

The Nigerian Army has taken a major strategic step to enhance its operational readiness and preparedness with the commissioning of a State-of-the-Art Wargaming Centre. The advanced facility, located at the Department of Land Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, was unveiled on Saturday, December 6, 2025. 

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, NAM, who championed the conceptualization of the center, reaffirmed the strategic role of AFCSC as a center of excellence for shaping intellectually prepared officers.

The Wargaming Centre is designed to serve as a critical asset for sharpening commanders’ ability to plan, rehearse, and execute operations with precision in today's dynamic battlefield.

 The facility will significantly enhance the capacity of personnel to develop modern operational concepts, refine strategic thinking, and improve combat decision-making processes.

The COAS emphasized that investing in advanced training technologies is essential for the Army to stay ahead of adversaries and deepen its capability for effective deployment across all theatres of operation.

Welcoming the COAS, the Commandant AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Idris Alhaji, assured that the College remains committed to delivering world-class professional military education.

The Commandant commended the COAS for delivering the cutting-edge facility, stating it is indispensable for AFCSC, which attracts officers from across the world.

 General Shaibu reiterated his broader vision to upgrade and modernize all existing military training infrastructures to meet global standards.

The COAS charged the student officers to maximize the use of the new facility as the Army continues to operate in fluid, unpredictable, and technology-driven security environments.

He concluded by appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering commitment and support to the Nigerian Army’s ongoing transformation drive.
