Access Bank Dismisses False Shutdown Rumour, Reassures Customers of Stable Operations
Access Bank Plc has reassured customers and stakeholders that its operations remain stable and uninterrupted, dismissing as false reports circulating on social media that the financial institution is shutting down.
The bank said the viral message, which falsely claimed to originate from its official communication channels, was fabricated and should be ignored by members of the public.
In a statement issued by its management, Access Bank maintained that it remains financially sound and continues to provide banking services across all its subsidiaries without disruption.
The bank said it had become aware of the misleading posts being shared on social media platforms and messaging applications, stressing that they were designed to create unnecessary panic and erode public confidence.
It added that relevant regulatory agencies and law enforcement authorities had been engaged to investigate the source of the misinformation, while those responsible would face legal consequences in accordance with existing laws.
Access Bank further reminded the public that knowingly creating or circulating false information capable of causing public alarm or damaging the reputation of individuals or institutions is punishable under Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.
The bank advised customers to ignore the fake notice and refrain from forwarding it to others, urging them to rely only on information released through its verified official communication platforms.
It also expressed appreciation to customers, business partners and stakeholders for their continued confidence and support, reaffirming its commitment to delivering secure, reliable and customer-focused banking services.
