Enugu Police Recover Toyota Avensis Stolen in Benue State, Arrest Three Suspects

The Enugu State Police Command has successfully recovered a Toyota Avensis car that was stolen over three months ago in Benue State and arrested three suspects connected to the stolen vehicle  

According to the Command spokesperson, SP, Daniel Ndukwe, in statement issued to journalists, stated that the operation was executed by Police operatives attached to the Unity Division on October 13, 2025, at about 2:10 p.m., following a security tip-off at Ibagwa-Nike, Enugu.

“The recovered vehicle was originally stolen on June 29, 2025, from where it was parked in Otukpo, Benue State”

“The three male suspects was arrested in connection with the theft and sale of the vehicle and the suspects are: Ernest Oshi, 51; Ukpai Ifeanyi, 36 and Ogbuzulu David, 32”

“Preliminary investigations have revealed a chain of illicit transactions involving the stolen car:Ernest Oshi, the final buyer purchased the vehicle from Ukpai Ifeanyi while Ukpai Ifeanyi, a mechanic had earlier bought it from Ogbuzulu David and Ogbuzulu David, a car dealer claimed to have purchased the vehicle from a mechanic in Benue State” Ndukwe stated

Meanwhile the suspects have reportedly confessed their individual levels of involvement as the police continue their diligent investigation.

However, the Enugu State Police Command has handed over the suspects and the recovered Toyota Avensis to the Benue State Police Command, which has the proper jurisdiction over the location where the theft originally occurred, for conclusive investigation and prosecution.
