146 SUSPECTS NETTED IN SAGAMU SECURITY SWEEP

In a sweeping, intelligence-driven crackdown on crime, the Ogun State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 146 suspects during a coordinated raid under the code-named operation, “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.”

The operation, carried out in the early hours of April 13, 2026, was spearheaded by operatives of the Sagamu Area Command in collaboration with multiple security agencies and community stakeholders, marking a significant push to curb rising security concerns in Sagamu and its environs.

According to the Command, the exercise followed a series of strategic consultations with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies, all aimed at strengthening a unified security framework and preventing any breakdown of law and order.

The intelligence-led raid targeted known flashpoints across the town where suspected criminal elements had reportedly been operating and posing threats to public peace. Authorities said the proactive move was designed to reinforce safety and reassure residents.

The operation saw a joint deployment of personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), highlighting a robust inter-agency collaboration.

All 146 suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in alleged criminal activities. Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Commending the professionalism and synergy displayed during the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing and sustained efforts to safeguard lives and property across Ogun State.

Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines, as authorities intensify efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.
