PSFU, U.S. Consulate Strengthen Alliance Against Transnational Fraud

The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos, has reinforced its commitment to tackling cross-border financial crimes following a high-level meeting with representatives of the U.S. Consulate in Lagos.

The Commissioner of Police, PSFU, CP Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, hosted a delegation of overseas crime investigators from the consulate, led by Special Agent Jonathan McAlister, in a strategic engagement aimed at boosting collaboration against visa fraud and other transnational criminal activities.

The meeting focused on improving intelligence sharing, strengthening operational cooperation, and enhancing capacity building to address evolving and sophisticated fraud schemes that cut across international borders. Key discussions highlighted emerging patterns in visa-related fraud and cyber-enabled crimes, as well as the need for coordinated enforcement strategies to dismantle criminal networks.

CP Okpoziakpo reaffirmed the Unit’s dedication to intelligence-driven investigations, noting that global partnerships remain essential in effectively combating transnational crime. He emphasized that such collaborations would enhance investigative efficiency, promote timely exchange of information, and build stronger institutional capacity.

Members of the U.S. delegation commended the PSFU’s ongoing efforts in addressing fraud-related offences and expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation through technical support, joint training initiatives, and improved information-sharing frameworks.

The PSFU reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of financial systems and ensuring that perpetrators of cross-border crimes are brought to justice through sustained collaboration with international partners.
