Nigerian Army Repels Boko Haram Attack, Loses Commanding Officer in Borno
The Nigerian Army's Operation HADIN KAI successfully foiled a major Boko Haram attack planned for the Kashimri area of Bama Local Government, Borno State, on October 17, 2025.
During a fierce gunfight where troops successfully destroyed terrorist camps and neutralized several insurgents, the operation came at a high cost: Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Saidu Paiko, the Commanding Officer of the 202 Tank Battalion, and a few other valiant soldiers were killed in action.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen heroes, reaffirming the Army's unyielding resolve to continue the fight against terrorism until total peace is restored.
The Army also issued an advisory urging the public and media to respect the dignity and privacy of the deceased soldiers' families by refraining from sharing their images until their next of kin have been duly informed.
