The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspected cultists following a violent clash between rival groups in the Onireke and Isashi areas of the state that left one person dead. The swift response by tactical operatives successfully restored normalcy to the area and prevented further bloodshed. 

The arrests were confirmed in a statement released on Monday, October 6, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi

The Deadly Clash and Suspect Arrests

The operation began at about 10:00 PM on October 4, 2025, after the Command received a distress call reporting a clash. Joint tactical squads and detectives mobilized immediately to the scene.

While three victims were rushed to the hospital, one was later confirmed dead at Badagry General Hospital.

An immediate raid led to the arrest of the five suspects Victor Christian, 43; Samuel Success, 29; Balogun Emmanuel, 43; Wisdom Chukwuemeka, 28 and Oche Job 39 at a hotel in the locality believed to be responsible for the attack and the victim’s death.

A thorough search of the premises and the suspects’ operational vehicle, a Toyota Avalon (KTU 610 JB), yielded a significant cache of weapons and other exhibits.

Key Recovered Items Include: 1 locally-made pistol; 2 pump-action guns; 52 live cartridges and 2 expended cartridges

Others includes :1 cutlass; The operational vehicle and various electronic gadgets (HP laptop, mouse, iPhones, and Android phones) and 1 Federal Republic of Nigeria International Passport.

Police Vow to Eliminate Cultism

The five suspects are currently detained and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The police have deployed patrol teams and tactical squads to the area, which remains under close surveillance to prevent any reprisal attacks.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives' swift response, reaffirming the Command’s unwavering determination to stamp out cultism and related crimes across Lagos State. He urged residents to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and to report any suspicious activity promptly.
