Army Confirms Death of Lieutenant S. Haruna Following Incident at Home
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the unfortunate death of Lieutenant S. Haruna on October 6, 2025, from injuries sustained following an incident that also involved his wife on September 22, 2025.
According to a press release issued by Captain Lawal Bala Muhammad, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the officer sustained severe fire burns during the incident at his residence.
Following the event, Lt. Haruna was immediately evacuated to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) where he received extensive medical treatment. Despite the concerted efforts of the medical team, he sadly passed away while under care.
The Nigerian Army expressed its deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased officer and prayed for the repose of his soul.
The Army also stated that an investigation was instituted immediately following the onset of the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the event. The Army assured the general public that the outcome of the investigation will be made public upon its conclusion, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and accountability.
