SAPELE ABDUCTION: CP Oyeniyi Leads Tactical Sweep, Assures Safe Return of Council Chairman
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has carried out a high-level operational visit to Sapele in response to the abduction of a Local Government Chairman, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to secure the victim’s safe and unharmed release.
This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson SP, Bright Edafe, that the visit was part of a coordinated and intelligence-driven response to the incident. During the operation, the CP conducted an on-the-spot assessment of key locations linked to the crime. He inspected Debro Fred Guest House, the scene of the abduction, to gain firsthand insight into the circumstances surrounding the attack. He also visited Ogorode Waterside, where the suspected getaway vehicle was recovered, a development expected to aid ongoing forensic analysis and intelligence gathering.
In a show of empathy and leadership, CP Oyeniyi paid a visit to the wife of the abducted chairman, assuring the family that all necessary measures are being deployed to ensure his safe return. He also visited medical facilities where victims injured during the incident are currently receiving treatment.
Reinforcing the Command’s commitment, the CP disclosed that security operatives, in collaboration with other agencies, have intensified efforts using credible intelligence to track down those responsible and rescue the victim without harm. He called on residents of Sapele and the wider Delta State community to remain vigilant and support law enforcement by sharing timely and useful information.
The Delta State Police Command reiterated its unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives and property, assuring the public that decisive actions are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
