PSFU Boosts Capacity with Comprehensive Training on Forensic Analysis and Emerging Investigative Trends
The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Lagos, led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Rose Chollom Dung, has completed a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the professional capacity of its officers and men.
The program, organized in partnership with the Institute of Public Safety and Security in Work Environment, focused on critical areas, including: Emerging Investigative Trends; Forensic Analysis and Case Management Strategies
In her opening address, CP Dung emphasized that the training is a highlight of the Unit's commitment to capacity building as an indispensable tool for effective crime fighting, particularly in the complex and dynamic landscape of fraud-related offenses. She noted that improved investigative styles will lead to more credible outcomes in complex cases and, crucially, enhance public trust in the Unit's operations.
The training aligns with the PSFU’s continuous effort to strengthen professionalism, intelligence-led investigation, and adherence to global best practices in financial crime detection and prosecution.
The Commissioner extended her gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his leadership focused on personnel development and a professionally driven Police Force. She also appreciated the Institute for its strategic collaboration and technical support, describing the partnership as "timely and essential" for equipping officers with modern investigative skills.
The PSFU concluded by reiterating its commitment to ensuring its personnel undergo continuous development to effectively meet contemporary challenges in law enforcement and financial crime investigations.
