EFCC boss to address economic summit, touting over ₦566 billion recovered in 2 years

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, is set to headline the WorldStage Economic Summit (WES) 2025this Friday, November 21, at the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), Lagos. 

Mr. Olukoyede will deliver a key address on "Anti-Corruption Efforts of the EFCC to Boost Ease of Doing Business," using the platform to highlight the Commission's impressive track record of recoveries and convictions under his leadership.

The EFCC Chairman's presentation will underscore the tangible results achieved in the fight against economic and financial crimes since he assumed office in October 2023.

According to a two-year report covering October 2023 to September 2025, the EFCC has recorded unprecedented achievements, including:

The total naira recovered over ₦566 Billion while a total Clconvictions Secured was 7,503 as well as a cases filed in court was 10,525 while others included non-monetary assets recovered was 1,502 properties and foreign currency recovered was over $411 Million alongside with Euros and Pounds

These figures demonstrate the EFCC’s renewed commitment to tracing, confiscating, and returning illicit assets to the Nigerian state and victims of fraud.

The WES 2025 is themed "Tackling the Issue of Low Productivity in Nigeria." The summit aims to diagnose chronic economic challenges and propose actionable solutions to improve national output and living standards.

Mr. Segun Adeleye, President and CEO of World Stage Limited, highlighted that low productivity remains a significant obstacle, noting that even with many working, a large portion of Nigerians live below the poverty line because "the right jobs are not available."

The summit agenda will tackle critical areas, including: evidence-based policies to generate jobs that lift people out of poverty; legislative interventions to curb annual economic loss;a Strategies to boost earnings in low-productivity sectors; reforms to accelerate domestic resource mobilization and tax administration.

Olukoyede will be joined by top economic executives, including Dr. Olasupo Olusi (MD/CEO, Bank of Industry), Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir, (DG, MAN), Mr. Adewale Smatt-Oyerinde (DG, NECA), and academia from the University of Lagos.

The summit will also feature the presentation of the WorldStage Economic Summit Awards For Outstanding Economic Impacts in 2025. The awards will be given to one State Governor, one Minister and 21 Organisations in Lagos

The event is supported by leading corporate institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX), Zenith Bank, and others, emphasizing the synergy between anti-corruption efforts and a thriving business environment.
