UBA Marks CEO Alawuba's 60th Birthday with Pan-African Wellness, Environmental Campaign

Africa's Global Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has reaffirmed its commitment to employee wellbeing, environmental sustainability and community development by mobilising thousands of staff across its operations in 20 African countries for the latest edition of its flagship wellness initiative, "Jogging to Bond."

The quarterly event, themed "The Power Within U," coincided with the 60th birthday celebration of the bank's Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba, who marked the milestone alongside employees in a day dedicated to fitness, teamwork, volunteerism and environmental stewardship.

A major highlight of the exercise was a simultaneous environmental clean-up campaign across UBA's markets, with staff in cities including Lagos, Accra, Nairobi and Dakar participating in efforts to improve public spaces, reinforcing the bank's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitment.

Speaking during the event, Alawuba said the initiative reflects UBA's belief that corporate success must go hand in hand with positive social impact, stressing that the bank's greatest strength lies in its people and their shared commitment to healthier communities and sustainable development.

UBA's Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, said the programme underscores the bank's holistic approach to employee welfare, workplace wellness and environmental responsibility, adding that "Jogging to Bond" remains one of the institution's key platforms for creating value for employees, customers, shareholders and communities across Africa.
