ICPC Probe: 6 Egypt Properties Allegedly Traced to Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reportedly uncovered multiple real estate assets in Egypt believed to be connected to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, as part of an ongoing investigation into his time in office.
According to findings from the anti-corruption agency’s inquiry, the properties were identified while reviewing financial activities linked to the former governor’s administration. Sources familiar with the probe disclosed that the assets include several luxury residences situated in upscale districts of Cairo, Egypt’s capital city.
The properties are said to consist of three villas and six apartments located in high-value neighbourhoods, including areas within New Cairo and the Cairo Festival City axis, known for premium real estate developments. Market estimates indicate that villas in such locations can cost over one million dollars each, while luxury apartments in similar districts are valued at several hundred thousand dollars.
Investigators reportedly believe the properties were acquired between 2021 and 2023, a period that falls within the final years of El-Rufai’s tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
The former governor has not issued an official response to the latest claims. However, he has consistently denied wrongdoing in relation to previous allegations, insisting that the investigations against him are politically motivated and linked to his recent political positions.
The ICPC has yet to release an official public statement detailing the outcome of the investigation.
