OGUN POLICE CRACK DOWN ON CULTISM IN MIDNIGHT RAID, ARREST 14 SUSPECTS, RECOVER FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, VEHICLES, AND CULT EXHIBITS ACROSS REMO AXIS
The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a significant operational success in its sustained offensive against cultism and threats to public peace, following a coordinated midnight sweep operation across the Isara, Ipara, and Ode axis of the state.
This was contained in a statement by Command’s spokesperson, DSP, Babaseyi Oluseyi, the fourteen suspects were arrested for unlawful assembly and conspiracy to breach the peace, while operatives recovered three locally-made pistols, eleven live cartridges, four rounds of 9mm Beretta ammunition, criminal charms, confraternity caps. “ A drum suspected to be part of cult initiation tools, nineteen mobile phones, one Samsung mini laptop, and nine vehicles of various brands some without registration plates and others bearing unauthorized dealer plates”
“The operation, which took place in the early hours of Friday, 24th January 2026, at about 1:20 a.m., was triggered by actionable intelligence indicating that suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity had converged at a bush location in Ipara-Remo”
“ The gathering was reportedly aimed at initiating new members and orchestrating activities capable of breaching public peace through unlawful assembly” Oluseyi stated.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a joint team of operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), with support from personnel of the Ipara and Isara Divisions, stormed the location and successfully arrested the suspects.
Those apprehended include: Solomon Shobamiwo, also known as “Solo Hot”; Farooq Ogunsola; Toheeb Abolade; Balogun Williams; Ayodele Abdulkareem; Adedapo Ogunsanya; Toheeb Saka; Akpan Dara; Micheal Olakemi; Habeeb Olayinka; Dapo Adeola; Adetunji Adeyemi; Henry Kingsley all males and Nanso Blessing (female).
The suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigations and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation. Meanwhile, the Command has intensified intelligence-led patrols and continuous sweep operations across the axis to apprehend other fleeing suspects and ensure sustained peace and security in the affected communities.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D., has strongly condemned unlawful assembly, breach of peace, and all forms of cult-related criminal activities in the state. He urged youths to shun cultism and criminal associations, emphasizing that the Command will not relent in its resolve to rid Ogun State of criminal elements.
