PalmPay Young Stars Turn Financial Lessons Into Smart Choices on Children’s Day Shopping Spree
In a heart-warming Children’s Day celebration, beneficiaries of the PalmPay Young Stars initiative transformed what could have been an ordinary shopping spree into a practical demonstration of financial responsibility and smart decision-making.
The initiative, organised by PalmPay, treated selected pupils from public schools to a memorable shopping experience where each child redeemed vouchers worth N50,000 for essential items of their choice.
Since its launch, the PalmPay Young Stars programme has continued to reward exceptional pupils in public schools through scholarships, school kits, and shopping vouchers aimed at supporting education and promoting academic excellence.
What made this year’s outing particularly remarkable was how the pupils applied lessons learned during a financial literacy workshop conducted by PalmPay before the shopping exercise.
Rather than spending impulsively on toys and treats, many of the children carefully selected practical items such as school supplies, food items, household essentials, and other daily necessities that would benefit both their education and their families.
The experience highlighted the growing importance of exposing children to financial education at an early stage, helping them develop responsible money habits and informed decision-making skills.
Speaking during the event, Head of Marketing and Communications at PalmPay, Femi Hanson, joined beneficiaries as they redeemed their shopping vouchers, reinforcing the company’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians beyond classroom learning.
The initiative demonstrated that financial literacy is not just an adult conversation but a vital life skill that can positively shape the future of children when introduced early.
Through the Young Stars initiative, PalmPay continues to combine rewards with impactful learning experiences, equipping children with confidence, life skills, and opportunities to dream bigger while building a culture of responsibility among the next generation.
