Nestlé Nigeria has launched Golden Morn 3in1, Nigeria’s first fully ready-to-eat cereal, marking a critical intervention in the nation’s escalating challenge of food affordability and malnutrition. This innovation is not merely a product upgrade; it is a strategic response to the alarming statistic that an estimated 172 million Nigerians could not afford a healthy diet in 2022, according to the UN's *State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024 Report.
By delivering a complete, fortified meal that requires only water and retails at an affordable ₦300, the Golden Morn 3in1 challenges the perspective that nutrition must be expensive or complicated, effectively using convenience as a catalyst for widespread dietary improvement.
Elevating the Conversation: Fortification and Cost-Saving
The product, a combination of the cherished Maize and Soya cereal, milk, and fortification, represents a significant step towards closing the national nutrition gap.
Wassim Elhusseini, CEO of Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the product’s core purpose: "Golden Morn 3in1 represents a significant advancement in convenience and affordability, making it easier than ever for families to enjoy a nutritious meal." The product reduces the cost of having a nutritious Golden Morn meal by up to 32 percent, making it immediately accessible to a vast segment of the population struggling with rising food prices.
Omofasa Orhiunu, Category Manager for Healthy Cereals, highlighted the specific nutritional benefits: the product is fortified with GRAINSMART protect a combination of iron and vitamins to support immunity, alongside protein, calcium, and fibre for digestive health.
From Homegrown Heritage to National Solution
The development of Golden Morn 3in1 built on the heritage of the homegrown Golden Morn cereal established in 1986 demonstrates Nestlé’s commitment to deriving solutions from local context and consumer insights.
This launch is a powerful proof point that the private sector can and must innovate not just for profit, but for public welfare. By making a fortified, balanced diet affordable and incredibly convenient, Nestlé Nigeria is playing a tangible role in improving the well-being of families and supporting the resilience required for national development. The Golden Morn 3in1 is positioned as an indispensable tool in the fight against dietary poverty.
