NSCDC, NDLEA STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION IN ANAMBRA STATE
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,NDELA , have expressed readiness to partner with each other in areas of core competencies and statutory functions.
This was the kernel of discussion on Friday, February 2, 2024 when the NSCDC Anambra State Commandant, Olatunde Maku led his management team on a courtesy visit to Mr. Daniel Onyishi, the State Commander National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Awka.
Explaining the purpose of the visit, Maku said it was to strengthen ties and help the two agencies deliver on their individual mandates.
" It is a pleasure to be here today. My aim of coming is to strengthen the long standing relationship between NSCDC and your agency.
" This relationship is so special that we cannot afford not to continue from where our predecessors stopped" he added.
The State Commandant further stated that no single agency can defeat criminality alone in the country, but with the combination of efforts, the value and performance would be greater.
" It is critical that we strengthen our relationship so that we can achieve greater successes, NSCDC recognizes that war on crime and criminality and by extension the fight against the menace of illicit drugs, and vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure could be won through a collaborative approach" he concluded.
Responding, Mr. Daniel Onyishi, the State NDLEA Commander noted that the NDLEA had always welcomed inter- agency collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in its crusade against drug abuse , illicit drug trafficking and drug peddling. He pledged his agency's support as it relates to functions of both institutions.
" As brothers in the service of our fatherland, we need to work together, share ideas, and form strong alliance to reduce drug abuse abd other forms of criminality to the barest minimum
" We have enjoyed working with NSCDC in strengthening our operational strength during special operations. We have also enjoyed sharing intelligence with your agency and I am happy to say that we would do more to support each other" he said.
Other issues bordering on synergy and security challenges in the state were extensively discussed, at the end both agencies resolved to work harmoniously in order to promote safety and security of Anambra indigenes and residents.
