LAGOS, Nigeria – June 6, 2025 – In a significant gesture of recognition, the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has announced that the main access road leading to the sprawling Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals complex will officially be named **Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road**. This tribute honours President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast support of the private sector and his pioneering vision in establishing the Free Trade Zone during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State.
The announcement was made on Thursday, June 5, 2025, during President Tinubu's comprehensive tour of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals facility. The tour coincided with the official commissioning of the crucial Deep Sea Port Access Road, a strategic infrastructure link connecting the Lekki Deep Sea Port, the Free Trade Zone, and the Dangote Refinery to the Sagamu–Benin Expressway via Ijebu Ode.
Addressing the President directly, Dangote remarked, “Mr. President, let me just say one thing — the main road leading into our refinery is now to be known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road.” The declaration was met with applause from attending dignitaries, and President Tinubu rose to shake hands with Dangote in a moment of mutual appreciation.
Dangote further revealed the Group's substantial contributions to national development, noting that despite paying N450 billion in taxes last year, the company is committed to investing an additional N900 billion in road infrastructure across Nigeria. He clarified that the newly commissioned Deep Sea Port Access Road is one of several roads constructed and being developed by the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s innovative tax credit scheme.
The Dangote Group currently holds the distinction of being Nigeria’s highest tax-paying company, contributing more in taxes than all the country’s banks combined.
